Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorder (OSFED) is a diagnostic category used for individuals diagnosed presenting with eating disorder symptoms that would meet the specific criteria of other disorders except for one criterion. There are also several specific sub-diagnoses that fall under OSFED, such as purging disorder and night eating syndrome. While it is a more general diagnosis, OSFED can be just as serious as other eating disorders and can result in hospitalisation for the same medical complications as with anorexia and bulimia.

Anorexia Nervosa is an illness characterised by extreme weight loss caused by behaviours of food restriction and/or excessive exercise.

Binge-Eating Disorder (compulsive overeating) is a serious eating disorder, which is not the same as the more common issue of overeating.
