Poem of recovery by Lauren

I Stand Here Free

I stand here now, so strong, so free,
No chains remain, just endless me.
The weight once crushing on my chest
Has faded, leaving peace and rest.

The fight was long, the nights were cold,
But I found resilience as I took hold.
Each fear I faced, each tear I shed,
Brought life back where the darkness fed.

I taste the joy in every bite,
No guilt, no shame, just pure light.
My body moves with ease and grace,
No numbers hold me in their place.

Anorexia stole, but I reclaimed,
The girl who once felt lost, ashamed.
Through every struggle, every tear,
I found the strength to persevere.

For every trial has shaped my soul,
Each battle won has made me whole.
I wouldn’t change a single thing
Each step has shaped the strength I bring

So here I stand, so strong, so free,
Embracing the person I’m proud to be.
